Middlebank

Extension to Home in Dundee
Middlebank Crescent
Completed 2020

This semi-detached bungalow is situated in the West End of Dundee in an established suburban area with fantastic views over the River Tay.  The building has retained many Art Deco features including stained glass windows and panelled doors and typical bungalow features such as large overhanging eaves and hipped roofs.

The First Floor rooms were extended with a large zinc dormer at the rear which has enabled a new spacious stair and an additional bedroom to be added, overlooking the garden.  Natural and breathable wood fibre insulation was used to insulate the newly configured first floor, bringing this underused part of the house back into a full-time occupation.

On the ground floor, the rooms were reconfigured to allow an open plan kitchen dining room to be created from front to back, connecting the garden view to the river view.  New timber panelling and a simple Scandinavian pallet of colours have given this home a contemporary character whilst retaining the original period features of the house.
